Partner description

Community bank in the Iringa region of southern Tanzania. It’s a customer-owned bank that finances a wide range of activities, from commerce to agriculture to services.

Country and/or business sector context

Tanzania is full of assets (agriculture, tourism, strategic position, mining) and is fairly stable politically, although there was a somewhat dictatorial interlude with Magufuli, who died in 2021. However, the country suffers from a very bad reputation among investors, particularly in microfinance, because the level of corruption and dishonesty in business and all parts of society is enormous.

Partner impact

it is quite high in the region of activity, limited to its status as a regional bank. However, this bank also finances large companies with less virtuous social practices. Their PES is also less developed and organised.
