Partner description

PAIDEK is a microfinance company founded nearly 20 years ago, which began by granting loans to rural communities in Kivu. Its credit activities aimed to support the region’s most disadvantaged populations by encouraging group lending. Over time, it has become more professional and has evolved to offer a more diversified range of credit products, particularly in urban areas.

Country and/or business sector context

“PAIDEK’s working area covers the country’s two central-eastern provinces: North Kivu and South Kivu. These provinces are both highly agricultural and highly commercial. The proximity of the borders and the presence of raw materials in the subsoil encourage the circulation of money in these two provinces.
Historically, microfinance in the DRC has been concentrated in the Kivus and the west with Kinshasa. Today, a range of players (COOPECs, companies) are trying to meet the needs of customers, mainly in urban areas”.

Partner impact

PAIDEK operates in North and South Kivu with 09 branches, including 03 in rural areas, providing financial services (loans) to nearly 3,000 borrowers. PAIDEK has recently started offering savings services in all its branches.
